CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care


Australian Workplace Training offers CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care via two delivery modes: Externally and Online.

This qualification covers workers who conduct vacation programs as well as before and after school care activities for children of school age.

Outside school hours care workers plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes These workers may work under direct supervision or autonomously or may have some supervisory responsibilities for volunteers and other workers.

An interview with a Trainer will be arranged prior to your enrolment. In this interview any difficulty you might experience with your training will be discussed, these may be language, literacy or physical disabilities. If you have any concerns or special needs please discuss them with the trainer during the interview as support could be available for you.

External and Online students study this course at their own pace, however it is anticipated the course will be completed in approximately eighteen to twenty four months, it can be completed earlier depending on the individual. Students work at home with self paced units and have access to a trainer either face to face or by phone, fax, correspondence and email for assistance. Students are required to attend block training sessions, as well as a maintain monthly contact with their trainer.

A Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) national police check clearance is required before work placement can commence. All students must demonstrate that their current level of English language proficiency meets the minimum entry requirements.
During the course we will work with you to arrange a suitable venue(s) for work placement. At the end of the course you will be expected to have completed a minimum of 140 hours of work placement to enable the assessment of your ability to implement your training under working conditions. Please discuss this with your trainer at your interview.
Please note that students completing the course through a funded initiative will be required to complete the number of work placement hours nominated in the funding agreement.

The qualification is achieved by successfully completing all the suggested units. This can be achieved by participating in training sessions, completing assignments and by demonstrating your ability by putting the learning into practice under working conditions during the work placement. Skills Recognition is available.

Course Structure

The certificate consists of 19 units: 15 core and 4 elective.
Each unit includes the relevant training and assessment materials required to achieve competency.

HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
