Working in Disability involves assisting residents (whether in an aged care facility, disability facility, community housing or in their own home) in their personal needs, monitoring health issues, as well as engaging them in meaningful activities.
The disability care sector is a mandated industry: all workers must have a minimum Certificate III qualification in addition to
- Police Clearance
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- Infection Control
- Mandatory Reporting (Identifying Abuse)
Training for work in the Disability sector is a specialisation of Australian Workplace Training – we deliver the Certificate III in Individual Support(CHC33015) and Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115) as well as First Aid and Manual Handling.
A Disability qualification can be bundled with a qualification in Aged Care or Home & Community Care not only to improve the services supplied to residents but also to improve employability.
