Working in Disability involves assisting residents (whether in an aged care facility, disability facility, community housing or in their own home) in their personal needs, monitoring health issues, as well as engaging them in meaningful activities.

The disability care sector is a mandated industry: all workers must have a minimum Certificate III qualification in addition to

  • Police Clearance/DCSI Screening
  • First Aid
  • Manual Handling

Training for work in the Disability sector is a specialisation of Australian Workplace Training – we deliver the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) and CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support as well as HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and Manual Handling (non-accredited).

A Disability qualification can be bundled with a qualification in Aged Care or Home & Community Care not only to improve the services supplied to residents but also to improve employability.
