CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability

 

Australian Workplace Training offers CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability via our External (E-learning) delivery mode.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed work placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

  • Lifestyle Support Officer
  • Community Program Coordinator

An interview with a trainer will be arranged prior to your enrolment.
In this interview any difficulty you might experience with your training will be discussed, these may be language, literacy or physical disabilities. If you have any concerns or special needs please discuss them with the trainer during the interview as support could be available for you.

External (E-learning) students study this course at their own pace, however it is anticipated the course will be completed in approximately twelve to eighteen months, it can be completed earlier depending on the individual. Students work at home on their theory work with self paced units and have access to a trainer either face to face or by phone, fax, correspondence and email for assistance. Students are required to attend block training for practical tasks, role plays, group activities, and demonstrations; as well as maintain monthly contact with their trainer via phone, email or face to face (please contact reception to arrange an appointment with your trainer).

During the course we will work with you to arrange a suitable venue(s) for work placement. At the end of the course you will be expected to have completed a minimum of 180 hours of work placement to enable the assessment of your ability to implement your training under working conditions. Please discuss this with your trainer at your interview.
Please note that students completing the course through a funded initiative will be required to complete the number of work placement hours nominated in the funding agreement.

This qualification consists of 14 units; 11 core and 3 elective.

CHCDIS005 Develop and provide person-centred service responses
CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability
CHCDIS008 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion
CHCDIS009 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centred approach
CHCDIS010 Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs
CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Elective Units:
CHCDIS004 Communicate using augmentative and alternative communication strategies
CHCDIS006 Develop and promote positive person-centred behaviour supports
CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach

The qualification is achieved by successfully completing all the suggested units.
This can be achieved by participating in training sessions, completing assignments and by demonstrating your ability by putting the learning into practice under working conditions during the work placement.

Replacement unit fee:  $25 per unit
Postage of certificate:  $10 (surface mail/untracked)
Postage of items:  Calculated on an individual basis on the weight/size of the item/s to be posted

This qualification has subsidies available Supported by Government of South Australia for eligible participants.

From 29 November 2021, concession eligibility will include all students (excluding school students) who enrol in Social Care (Aged Care, Disability Care, Child Care) courses (including CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability).
