Subsidised Training in South Australia: How Skills SA Funding Works

A plain-English guide to government-subsidised vocational training in SA — who is eligible, what it costs, and how to apply through an RTO like AWT.

Many South Australians don't realise their qualification could be largely funded by the state government. Here's how subsidised training works in practice.

What is subsidised training?

The Government of South Australia, through Skills SA, subsidises training places in priority industries — including aged care, disability, early childhood and community services — to help meet workforce demand. Instead of the full fee-for-service price, eligible students pay a much smaller co-contribution.

Am I eligible?

Eligibility depends on factors like your residency status, age, employment situation and prior qualifications. Full participant eligibility criteria are published on the Skills SA website, and AWT confirms your individual eligibility, fees and funding conditions during enrolment — before you commit to anything.

What does it cost with funding?

As an example, the fee-for-service price of CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is $2,950 — but fully-funded eligible participants pay from $467.50 (concession). Payment plans are also available.

How do I apply?

You apply through a registered training organisation. Contact AWT (RTO 40037) for a free consultation — we'll check your eligibility, explain your fees upfront and book you into the next monthly intake.
